Today we are making yummy Cream Cheese Peppermints! This is a great one to do with the kids. It's simple, quick and you use your hands!

For every ounce of cream cheese (light is okay), use 1 cup of powdered sugar.
Peppermint flavoring (to taste)
Food coloring (as you wish)

Blend cream cheese and sugar, then add peppermint and coloring.

Drop by teaspoons onto wax paper coated with granulated sugar. Roll into balls (the sugar stops the stickiness). Flatten with a fork or rounded spoon.

Let dry.

Done! Store in frig.

You could try other flavorings also.

See all the different colors in the jar of today's freebie? Doesn't the mix make it lovely and interesting? We are all used to people pointing out that the mixture of races (colors) makes life richer and more interesting...but there's more than that.

God gave us each different characteristics as it pleased Him. We've developed more characteristics as we have lived. Even though we are alike in many ways, we are all different in so many ways too. It's these differences that often make "family time" at holidays such a challenge. But just as the differences of races can enrich life, so can the differences in people.

Let's try to give others grace to be different and strive to appreciate the differences, like the balls in the jar. Let's try to stop reacting like everyone should be like us and being judgmental when they aren't. What about the crotchety person? The one who talks too much? The one with the collection of truly um...unique beliefs they can't stop sharing? The one who smothers you with their affections and the one who remains cold no matter what you do to bless them? The one who thinks they are "all that" and the one who is so shy they try to disappear. The one who flaunts their wealth and the one believes the world owes them a living. The one who is wound so tight you feel your skin crawling in attempt to flee.

We can't give the world peace, but we can make peace in our own worlds, at least for the holiday. Let's love others as Christ has loved us and gave Himself up for us. Those of us who have taken Jesus as our Savior have no choice. When we asked Him to forgive our sins and be our Savior, we were bought with the price of His sacrifice on the cross and we aren't our own any more. We belong to Him and He has told us to love one another just as He has loved us and gave Himself up for us. He has said they will know we are Christians by our love for one another. Let's truly LIVE that this holiday, and then try to keep living it the rest of our lives.

It takes all kinds to make a world. It's good we aren't all the same - how boring would that be! Let's look for the beauty in the mixture of personalities this holiday, and remember that God loves every one of us equally. He came to earth to die for every one of us equally, that we all have the opportunity to belong to Him and be saved. If God loves the "difficult person", who are we to reject them? LOL ... and to someone else, WE might be the "difficult person"!!!
