To share today's thought I must first lay a little groundwork, so please bear with me. Four years ago we had to have a lot of expensive work done to our home. It was a huge deal as we had to go deeply into debt to do it, refinancing the house adding it to our mortgage. We prayed long and hard that God would guide our choice of contractor and that they would do all the work just the way they should. Now only four years later, it has become evident that they didn't and we were ripped off in many ways. The spector of what must be done and how on earth can we do it looms darkly over us. It's easy to question why He did not protect us as we begged Him to. Why didn't He take care of His children?

Today an insurance appraiser came to look at the roof (a separate issue - hail damage). Again we prayed for favor as we were hoping he would fix the part of the problem, where it's been raining inside the living/diningroom. He said no because it was the fault of the contractor, but he said he would fix the floor damage that has resulted and put in new carpet. (Just FYI, that wasn't even on the list and though it's great, it doesn't touch the immense issues.)

So as I was pondering our situation, the fact God didn't protect us last time and so we have all this going on now and no visible way to take care of it, a thought came to me. My husband has been wanting to move near the church he started over a year ago and pastor's in a neighboring state. It's an hour each way and he wants to be there as soon as the church can support a full time pastor. For now we don't even get gas money and he works a full time job and also has a recording studio in the house to try make ends meet. We have remarked for a year that we wouldn't be able to sell the house with the carpet like this, but again, no way to take care of it.

Here's the thought: Because God didn't answer our prayers and protect us with the last contractors, now we are getting a new carpet in part of the house. DH thinks it's to get it ready to sell. It does bring to mind the fact that some times He does not do what we ask because He's working out something good for us down the road. This is good food for though and can help how we think about things when we feel He's let us down.

We still have all the huge issues that need addressed, so please keep us in your prayers, for that and oh so much more!
