Big Sis Paula's Suzy Homemaker Birthday Card - XOXO

My sister's birthday is this coming week. She's a real Suzy Homemaker and outstanding in every aspect of it...even while working a full time (plus) job, but her love is her family and home. I'd seen a picture of a plain apron card long ago and thought that would be perfect for her! But, I can't seem to do anything plain and simple... :) so here's what I designed for her! My camera is junk so the pics aren't great and the colors are bizarre, but you get the idea and all the directions are there so you can make one too!
I wanted the card to fit in a standard 3.5 x 6.5" envelope, so I took a scrap of typing paper (always recycling) and traced the envelope, subtracted a margin so it would slip in easily and went from there. Here are the pieces and dimensions.
And here's the finished card - voila! I hope you enjoyed this and I'd love to see what you make.I liked it so much that I've made another one for my oldest daughter who is also a stellar Suzy Homemaker!! Hmmm...thinking I might just have to make one for my younger daughter too! Oh poor me! :) Both of them also collect aprons - and use them! How perfect! Ok, tomorrow I make one more! Will you? Actually now that I've got the templates made, they don't take hardly any time to make and I think they're sooooo cute!
Today I'm giving away my set of templates to make paper roses. I have been giving this away for 2-3 days now, but in case you missed it, here's another chance. I just love those little flowers!

Word Art Freebie

In today's world we tend to think that if someone didn't actually intend something in a certain way, then it doesn't count. Ponder that a moment. In the spiritual realm this is not so. Just as God established eternal laws for nature and mankind, He also established spiritual laws to govern the spiritual realm. God's laws do not change, none of them, no matter what mankind thinks. We will all be judged by them whether we decided we are too modern for them or not.

Spiritual laws also apply to the dark spiritual realm; satan and his evil spirits. We can do things in ignorance, without understanding their spiritual significance and without intending to open spiritual doors for evil to enter our lives. We still incur the consequences. Remember, satan is the father of lies. He does not play nice. He does not play fair. But he does have to play by God's rules. He is indeed a defeated foe (Jesus' work on the cross), but he still has power and he takes advantage of every opportunity we allow him, whether we meant it that way or not. He does not say, "Oh, they didn't really mean to allow us in, so just leave them alone." He does not think or act like God the Father or our Beloved Savior who operate always out of love for us. Satan wants only to kill and destroy us. He wants to us to spend eternity in hell with him as that's the only way he can strike out at God and hurt Him.

  • "Do not be bound together with unbelievers; for what partnership have righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship has light with darkness?" 2 Corinthians 6:14
Think hard about what you do and where you go today and in connection with this season. There are spiritual consequences. Have you given your life to Christ asking Him to save you? Then you have given Him your life and agreed to live by His laws and to have Him live in you. You are a holy servant of the Most High God and your mission in this world is to be used by Him to spread the Gospel of Salvation to a lost and dying world. If you choose behaviors that try to see how close you can get to "sin" without actually sinning, or if you freely indulge in darkness, whether in movies, books, music, celebrations or anything, you are only fooling yourself and it's time to really check if you are truly saved. This includes the current vampire fad. Darkness and evil no matter how it's packaged.
  • "If it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served which were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD." Joshua 24:15
When you dance with the devil, he changes you, you don't change him.

Valueable enough to read and apply!...and a freebie of course!

I know you've read things like this before, but this one is special and I wish every American would read it and apply it to their lives BEFORE TUESDAY's election!!!!

HEAVEN OR HELL

While walking down the street one day a Corrupt Senator was tragically hit by a car and died.

His soul arrives in heaven and is met by St. Peter at the entrance.

"Welcome to heaven," says St. Peter. "Before you settle in, it seems there is a problem. We seldom see a high official around these parts, you see, so we're not sure what to do with you."

"No problem, just let me in," says the Senator..

"Well, I'd like to, but I have orders from the higher ups. What we'll do is have you spend one day in hell and one in heaven. Then you can choose where to spend eternity."

"Really?, I've made up my mind. I want to be in heaven," says the Senator.

"I'm sorry, but we have our rules."

And with that, St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell.

The doors open and he finds himself in the middle of a green golf course. In the distance is a clubhouse and standing in front of it are all his friends and other politicians who had worked with him.

Everyone is very happy and in evening dress. They run to greet him, shake his hand, and reminisce about the good times they had while getting rich at the expense of the people.
They played a friendly game of golf and then dine on lobster, caviar and the finest champagne.

Also present is the devil, who really is a very friendly guy who is having a good time dancing and telling jokes.

They are all having such a good time that before the Senator realizes it, it is time to go.

Everyone gives him a hearty farewell and waves while the elevator rises...

The elevator goes up, up, up and the door reopens in heaven where St. Peter is waiting for him, "Now it's time to visit heaven.."

So, 24 hours passed with the Senator joining a group of contented souls moving from cloud to cloud, playing the harp and singing. They have a good time and, before he realizes it, the 24 hours have gone by and St. Peter returns.

"Well, then, you've spent a day in hell and another in heaven. Now choose your eternity."

The Senator reflects for a minute, then he answers: "Well, I would never have said it before, I mean heaven has been delightful, but I think I would be better off in hell."

So St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell..

Now the doors of the elevator open and he's in the middle of a barren land covered with waste and garbage. He sees all his friends, dressed in rags, picking up the trash and putting it in black bags as more trash falls from above.

The devil comes over to him and puts his arm around his shoulders.

"I don't understand," stammers the Senator. "Yesterday I was here and there was a golf course and clubhouse, and we ate lobster and caviar, drank champagne, and danced and had a great time. Now there's just a wasteland full of garbage and my friends look miserable. What happened?"

The devil smiles at him and says,

"Yesterday we were campaigning. Today, you voted.."

More Paper Roses ideas

After publishing the last post about the Paper Roses, I had another idea -

I just got my mail...is your box filling up with political junk like mine? As I was tossing it it occurred to me that they are printed on nice heavy card stock and they are glossy and rich and double sided... yup! I used the piece of card stock I had cut the roses out of for the flowers in the last post as a template, and made these lovely flowers out of it! :) The Lord promises beauty for ashes - here's ashes turned into beauty!!! :)

Paper Roses Templates by Lynette's Photo Art

For since the creation of the world, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen in all the world around us, so that no one has an excuse for not believing in God. Romans 1:20
In class last Sunday I was talking with the kids about the wonder and glory of fall. We talked about all the details that work together to create these fabulous colors. We talked about the fact that God chose what the laws of science and nature would be and causes it all to work together perfectly - and voila - autumn! God is not confined to the laws of science, He chose and created them. WE are confined by them!!!

Fall is just one moment of God fulfilling this scripture. He has shown His power and superiority in everything that He has created. There is no way man can live in this world and not see the creation about him and know there is a God, someone much greater than man, who created and watches over all of this. There is no way any intelligent person could say it all happened by accident. Even those who say this can't explain where the original elements and power came from that they say began life. Where did they come from? They still haven't come up with any explanation for this amazingly delicate, detailed and intertwining cycle of life here on earth. Both the big bang theory and the theory of evolution start with basic materials already in existence and then they go from there. Where did the basic material and the energy that supposedly acted on those elements to create life come from? Man so desperately wants to disprove that there is an eternal divine God, then man could live any way he wished without consequence. But they can't prove this as His very existence is evident in everything around us and the very makeup of our own bodies!

So, in keeping with God's beautiful creation - I saw the most beautiful paper roses at Paper Studio and just had to try them for myself. There is a fabulous video tutorial at http://paperstudioink.blogspot.com/2010/10/tuesday-tutorial-making-paper-flowers.html. They used one of those expensive machines to cut their shapes out, but I don't have one, so...I needed to make myself a template. I created the shape and then since I had no idea how large her flowers were, I made it in six different sizes from 2"-4.5". She curled the petals on a wooden skewer. I didn't have one, so I curled mine over a thin screw driver. She used some wonderful fast drying glue. I didn't have it, so I used a very thin layer of low melt glue and it worked fine. I made sure to curl the glued petals immediately after gluing before it hardened. I didn't have 2-sided paper, or that intriguing finishing spray she used, but I think my first three roses turned out pretty well! Enough to make me want to keep practicing!!!

So, the good news for you is that since I made all those different size templates, I'm going to give them to all of you who don't have fancy cutting machines either! So, enjoy and fill the world with lovely paper roses! I would love to see your creations and share them with everyone here! A big thank you to the ladies at Paper Studio for bringing this to my attention - now we can all make these little beauties! TTFN!
PS...I just got my mail...is your box filling up with political junk like mine? As I was tossing it it occurred to me that they are printed on nice heavy cardstock and they are glossy and rich... yup! I used the piece of cardstock I had cut the roses above out of as a template, traced three of my flowers onto the political paper and made this lovely flower out of it! :) The Lord promises beauty for ashes - here's ashes turned into beauty!!! :)
