Snaps Freebie

I don't know why, but the last few years I have had this love of magnets. I've made all kinds of them. These are some of the most unusual and easiest. These are huge snaps from Walmart that I simply separated glued to magnets. As an ex-seamstress I just love them. They are so unusual, which is always a plus, and they are reminiscent of all the wonderful years I was able to sew and boy did I make EVERYTHING! :) Aren't they cute? FYI...this was my valentine from my husband this year. It was so funny...I had recently discussed finances with him and then he surprised me with his handmade valentine with a disclaimer at the bottom: "No family funds were used in the making of this valentine!" He's the kind who loves to buy you two cards for every occasion, so that made this very intimate, an inside joke, and so funny! Now don't you want to make yourself some adorable snap magnets?
For today's gift I decided to give you a set of these fabulous snaps to use in your digital scrapbooking as well as the tut for the magnets. I cannot wait to use them! I haven't seen anyone else using them yet. :) If you are enjoying my gifts and posts, please consider purchasing one of my kits to help support this blog so I can continue giving them to you. I've given over 1,200 free kits now and I need your help. God bless you!

Pink Daisy Freebie

Flavored waters are a big business these days, but they are full of artificial ingredients and some even calories of sugar.

I had the pleasure of having lunch at my daughter's yesterday and she served me such a wonderful, fresh new drink that I thought I'd share it with you. She served a sparkling clear pitcher full of water with beautiful thin slices of cucumbers floating in it! Yes - I said cucumbers! It was so fresh and fun, tasty and surprising! There's something about the scent of cucumbers that always smells clean and happy to me. She sent me home with a cucumber and I set a pitcher of it to chill in my frig right away. I was surprised how quickly it tasted good.

Another fun thing about this refreshing drink was that it was not only a festive presentation, delicious and refreshing, but she had refilled it several times and each batch tasted as good as the first!

I would never have thought of doing this, but she is so creative! She says she's done it with strawberries, blackberries and other things too. So go try this - you won't be sorry! She says it's prettier when you don't peel the cucumbers, but she peeled these to be sure there couldn't be any nut contamination for me. Yes, in the last year I have developed a severe nut allergy and I'm trying to learn how to live with it - without any medical care (no insurance and no money). If any of you have wisdom on this I would greatly appreciate you e-mailing me. lynette@lynettesphotoart.com I looked into foreign on line meds for an Epi-pen as they don't require a prescription (which you can't have if you don't have a doctor), figuring any meds would be better than none, but I read that many of the sites that will sell you meds without a script are really fronts for identity theft. But back to the yummy water - isn't it gorgeous?!! LOL - I'm on the way to the frig for another drink of it! And just FYI, those lovely Oak Leaf Papers I gave you a couple of days ago you can thank her for - they were from her back deck!
My gift to you today is this pretty pink daisy. Enjoy!

Vampires & Oak Leaf Paper 1 Freebie

In recent years vampire books, TV shows and movies have become wildly popular. As Christians we have asked God to save our souls through the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross on our behalf. We have willingly given our lives to Him and been bought with the price of Christ's blood. We are no longer our own, but His and we have entered a solemn and holy covenant with Him to love and obey Him in all things. Therefore, it's important that we know what He requires of us! We can't be obedient and pleasing to Him if we don't know. Here are some things to consider:

-In Leviticus 17:10-16 God forbids any of His people or even those strangers who travel among them to eat blood. Even to eat an animal that has died or been torn by another made the person ceremonially unclean before God.

"And any man from the house of Israel, or from the aliens who sojourn among them, who eats any blood, I will set My face against that person who eats blood and will cut him off from among his people. For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood by reason of the life that makes atonement. Therefore I said to the sons of Israel, 'No person among you may eat blood, nor may any alien who sojourns among you eat blood. So when any man from the sons of Israel, or from the aliens who sojourn among them, in hunting catches a beast or a bird which may be eaten, he shall pour out its blood and cover it with earth. For as for the life of all flesh, its blood is identified with its life. Therefore I said to the sons of Israel, 'You are not to eat the blood of any flesh, for the life of all flesh is its blood; whoever eats it shall be cut off."

"When any person eats an animal which dies or is torn by beasts, whether he is a native or an alien, he shall wash his clothes and bathe in water, and remain unclean until evening; then he will become clean. But if he does not wash them or bathe his body, then he shall bear his guilt."

"You shall not eat anything with the blood, nor practice divination or soothsaying." Leviticus 19:26 That means any kind of witchcraft or fortune telling.

There is a definite spiritual element to the vampire culture.

"Do not turn to mediums or spiritists; do not seek them out to be defiled by them. I am the LORD your God." Leviticus 19:31

"As for the person who turns to mediums and to spiritists, to play the harlot after them, I will also set My face against that person and will cut him off from among his people." Leviticus 20:6

- That was a rule for the God's people, the Hebrews, under the old covenant. We don't live under those rules, but are under the new covenant through the blood of Christ. In Acts 15 the new Christian church was addressing the issue of what to require of those outside the Jewish faith who became Christians. The Holy Spirit of God said this through the apostles in verse 28 & 29:

"For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us to lay upon you no greater burden than these essentials: that you abstain from things sacrificed to idols and from blood and from things strangled and from fornication; if you keep yourselves free from such things, you will do well."

-In Exodus 20 God gives Moses His commandments. Verses 1-6 all apply to the vampire craze:

"Then God spoke all these words, saying, I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. You shall have no other gods before Me. You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth. You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing lovingkindness to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments."

The vampire culture has people surrendering their lives/souls to a vampire, allowing him to control them and their eternities. They serve the vampire by doing his bidding even to the point of killing other people.

-Luke 6:31 "Treat others the same way you want them to treat you." Would you want others to kill you or your loved ones? Or to doom your/their soul to the eternal hell of a vampire?

-John 15:13, Matthew 22:37-39 says, "Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends."

It is argued that the vampire craze is only fantasy and is harmless entertainment. God said we are to love and serve Him ONLY and with all our HEART, SOUL, MIND and STRENGTH. Mark 12:30. Our thoughts and actions are all to be consecrated to Him, not just dressing up and warming a bench at church for an hour one day a week. He said, "what fellowship does light have with darkness?"

"Do not be bound together with unbelievers; for what partnership have righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship has light with darkness?" 2 Corinthians 6:14

We cannot live "on the fence", counting on salvation from God while living in rebellion to His commands and expect to be saved in the end.

"For I am the LORD your God Consecrate yourselves therefore, and be holy, for I am holy. " Leviticus 11:44

"And Jesus answered and said to him, “Get behind Me, Satan! For it is written, ‘ worship the LORD your God, and Him only shall you serve.’” Luke 4:8; Matthew 4:10

"You shall destroy their altars, break their sacred pillars, and cut down their wooden images 14 (for you shall worship no other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God), 15 lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and they play the harlot with their gods and make sacrifice to their gods" Exodus 34:13-15

Paper Stack w/clip Frebie

"When you become the father of children and children's children and have remained long in the land, and act corruptly, and make an idol in the form of anything, and do that which is evil in the sight of the LORD your God so as to provoke Him to anger,

26I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that you will surely perish quickly from the land where you are going over the Jordan to possess it. You shall not live long on it, but will be utterly destroyed.

27"The LORD will scatter you among the peoples, and you will be left few in number among the nations where the LORD drives you.

28"There you will serve gods, the work of man's hands, wood and stone, which neither see nor hear nor eat nor smell.

29"But from there you will seek the LORD your God, and you will find Him if you search for Him with all your heart and all your soul.

30"When you are in distress and all these things have come upon you, in the latter days you will return to the LORD your God and listen to His voice.

31"For the LORD your God is a compassionate God; He will not fail you nor destroy you nor forget the covenant with your fathers which He swore to them." Deuteronomy 4:25-31

39"Know therefore today, and take it to your heart, that the LORD, He is God in heaven above and on the earth below; there is no other.

40"So you shall keep His statutes and His commandments which I am giving you today, that it may go well with you and with your children after you, and that you may live long on the land which the LORD your God is giving you for all time." Deuteronomy 4:39-40

Paper Flower 2 - The Flower Freebie

TV, music, videos, movies and video games have all greatly altered America's morals. Removing God from our schools and the famine of parents teaching God's moral laws to their children have reaped a tremendous change in American morals as a whole. Most people don't know or care what God's laws are on the subject because the media has taught for decades now that it's all about "you". Do what "you" want to do. Do what feels good to "you". Now "political correctness" dictates that it's "hate" to even disagree with literally anything someone else wants to do, even if to share the truth with them could save their souls from eternal hell. Being silent is the truly hateful thing to do. If you are standing in the street and I see a truck barreling straight for you and I do nothing to let you know, I have truly acted hatefully toward you. Out of love we need to at least let people know they have believed a lie and that there is a judgment day for all and we won't be judged by what was accepted by our society, but by God's law.

"Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, 'I am the LORD your God. You shall not do what is done in the land of Egypt where you lived, nor are you to do what is done in the land of Canaan where I am bringing you; you shall not walk in their statutes. You are to perform My judgments and keep My statutes, to live in accord with them; I am the LORD your God. So you shall keep My statutes and My judgments, by which a man may live if he does them; I am the LORD." Leviticus 18:2-5

Here are some things that are popular themes in entertainment today and many are in common practice here...and what God has commanded concerning them:

  • You cannot uncover the nakedness of any blood relative either of yourself, your father (either biological or not), your mother (either biological or not). This includes any child or their descendants from either your mother or father, aunts, uncles, daughter-in-laws (or male counterpart), sister-in-law (or male counterpart). Leviticus 18:7-16
  • "You shall not uncover the nakedness of a woman and of her daughter, nor shall you take her son's daughter or her daughter's daughter, to uncover her nakedness; they are blood relatives." Leviticus 18:17
  • "You shall not marry a woman in addition to her sister as a rival while she is alive, to uncover her nakedness." Leviticus 18:18
  • "Also you shall not approach a woman to uncover her nakedness during her menstrual impurity." Leviticus 18:19
  • "You shall not have intercourse with your neighbor's wife, to be defiled with her." Leviticus 18:20
  • "You shall not give any of your offspring to offer them to Molech (to false gods either as a sacrifice or to be trained up in their service), nor shall you profane the name of your God (take His name in vain); I am the LORD." Leviticus 18:21
  • "You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination." Leviticus 18:22
  • "Also you shall not have intercourse with any animal to be defiled with it, nor shall any woman stand before an animal to mate with it; it is a perversion." Leviticus 18:23
"Do not defile yourselves by any of these things; for by all these the nations which I am casting out before you have become defiled. For the land has become defiled, therefore I have brought its punishment upon it, so the land has spewed out its inhabitants. But as for you, you are to keep My statutes and My judgments and shall not do any of these abominations, neither the native, nor the alien who sojourns among you (for the men of the land who have been before you have done all these abominations, and the land has become defiled); so that the land will not spew you out, should you defile it, as it has spewed out the nation which has been before you. For whoever does any of these abominations, those persons who do so shall be cut off from among their people. Thus you are to keep My charge, that you do not practice any of the abominable customs which have been practiced before you, so as not to defile yourselves with them; I am the LORD your God." Leviticus 18:24-30

God says even the "land" is defiled by these sins and has "spewed out" the nations that practiced those things. He warns we too will be "spewed out" of our land if we defile it with these sins. Oh, but these are Old Testament commandments...we live under the New Testament...

God "is the same yesterday and today and forever." Hebrews 13:8 Though the religious rituals of that covenant don't apply to us today as we live under the new covenant Christ bought with His blood, fulfilling the old covenant, those things which God considered "abominations" then have not changed. He is still the same God. Sin is still sin and has a penalty.

Here are the penalties God requires of those who commit the things listed above (Leviticus 20:9-24):

"If there is anyone who curses his father or his mother, he shall surely be put to death; he has cursed his father or his mother, his bloodguiltiness is upon him.

10'If there is a man who commits adultery with another man's wife, one who commits adultery with his friend's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.

11'If there is a man who lies with his father's wife, he has uncovered his father's nakedness; both of them shall surely be put to death, their bloodguiltiness is upon them.

12'If there is a man who lies with his daughter-in-law, both of them shall surely be put to death; they have committed incest, their bloodguiltiness is upon them.

13'If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their bloodguiltiness is upon them.

14'If there is a man who marries a woman and her mother, it is immorality; both he and they shall be burned with fire, so that there will be no immorality in your midst.

15'If there is a man who lies with an animal, he shall surely be put to death; you shall also kill the animal.

16'If there is a woman who approaches any animal to mate with it, you shall kill the woman and the animal; they shall surely be put to death. Their bloodguiltiness is upon them.

17'If there is a man who takes his sister, his father's daughter or his mother's daughter, so that he sees her nakedness and she sees his nakedness, it is a disgrace; and they shall be cut off in the sight of the sons of their people. He has uncovered his sister's nakedness; he bears his guilt.

18'If there is a man who lies with a menstruous woman and uncovers her nakedness, he has laid bare her flow, and she has exposed the flow of her blood; thus both of them shall be cut off from among their people.

19'You shall also not uncover the nakedness of your mother's sister or of your father's sister, for such a one has made naked his blood relative; they will bear their guilt.

20'If there is a man who lies with his uncle's wife he has uncovered his uncle's nakedness; they will bear their sin. They will die childless.

21'If there is a man who takes his brother's wife, it is abhorrent; he has uncovered his brother's nakedness. They will be childless.

22'You are therefore to keep all My statutes and all My ordinances and do them, so that the land to which I am bringing you to live will not spew you out.

23'Moreover, you shall not follow the customs of the nation which I will drive out before you, for they did all these things, and therefore I have abhorred them.

24'Hence I have said to you, "You are to possess their land, and I Myself will give it to you to possess it, a land flowing with milk and honey " I am the LORD your God, who has separated you from the peoples.

26"Thus you are to be holy to Me, for I the LORD am holy; and I have set you apart from the peoples to be Mine.

27'Now a man or a woman who is a medium or a spiritist shall surely be put to death. They shall be stoned with stones, their bloodguiltiness is upon them.'"

Paper Flower 2 Template Freebie

Today in America it's almost impossible to live a day in society without hearing God's name taken in vain and as a curse word many times, even by those who call themselves "Christian". This is what God said about this:"The son of the Israelite woman blasphemed the Name and cursed. So they brought him to Moses. (Now his mother's name was Shelomith, the daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan.) They put him in custody so that the command of the LORD might be made clear to them. Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, Bring the one who has cursed outside the camp, and let all who heard him lay their hands on his head; then let all the congregation stone him. You shall speak to the sons of Israel, saying, 'If anyone curses his God, then he will bear his sin. Moreover, the one who blasphemes the name of the LORD shall surely be put to death; all the congregation shall certainly stone him. The alien as well as the native, when he blasphemes the Name, shall be put to death" Leviticus 24:11-16

He has said that no one will go unpunished who takes His name in vain. He says He is the same yesterday, today and always, so this has not changed. What a shock it will be for so many when they find out this is true, too late.

My gift for you today was inspired by something I saw on another blog recently. I have drawn this template which prints on a regular size sheet of paper and will give you seven flowers of different sizes. It's to make another variation of those oh so popular paper flowers. I have read that we are just supposed to cut these out and then sort of gather them as we coil them into a splendid flower. Well...for all of you who just don't seem to have the knack (like me), here's how I do it.

I always reuse things, so whenever something comes out of the printer wrong or we don't end up using it, I use the other side for my notes as I design. This time I printed the template on the back of one of these pages because I love the "newsprint/old book page" look. Granted, I don't think this weight of paper is ideal for these flowers, but that's what I used. I cut the largest flower out and then gathered it creasing with my fingers as you see below.
Now since they simply don't assemble well for me, I tack the bottoms every little way with just a touch of low melt glue as I'm gathering and wrapping it around and pinching the bottoms together as you see below. And here's my final result! Now go and try for yourself and send me some shots of your creations and I'll post them. Please support this blog by shopping my PayPal store. Something to think about -

"Do not drink wine or strong drink, neither you nor your sons with you, when you come into the tent of meeting, so that you will not die--it is a perpetual statute throughout your generations-- and so as to make a distinction between the holy and the profane, and between the unclean and the clean". Leviticus 10:9, 10

Here God was instructing Aaron and his sons how to serve Him in the tabernacle. Yes, it does tell them not to drink wine or strong drink, but it's the reason He told them this that applies to us today. It was "to make a distinction between the holy and the profane, between the unclean and the clean".

Not long ago it was universally understood that those who wore the name of Christ, Christian, did not drink alcohol. Today in many, many churches it has become quite a non-issue with Christians drinking alcoholic beverages with meals, even in public, unapologetically. They even buy alcohol in stores, being seen by the world doing so.

It used to be that the fact that drinking alcohol could compromise our witness to the lost was enough to make Christians abstain. The chance a soul could be lost eternally as they look at us and don't see a difference, so why would they want to come to Jesus, was enough. Not today. Yet we are warned that if we cause even one to stumble, it would be better for us to have a milestone tied around our necks and cast into the sea.

We are warned not to use our freedom in Christ as a license to sin, just because we have grace. This passage clearly tells us that the reason God told Aaron and his sons not to drink wine or strong drink was to distinguish "between the holy and the profane, between the unclean and the clean". Profane and unclean sounds like sin to me. We are to be set apart from the world. We are commanded not to be conformed to this world. A holy priesthood - all Christians, a holy nation unto God.

We are told repeatedly to prefer the welfare of others over our own. Is that what we are doing when we argue that in the New Testament we are only forbidden to be "drunk" and selfishly cling to our "freedom" as permission to drink alcohol? Paul said though he had freedom in Christ to do certain things, he never would if it would cause someone to stumble.

We all know that alcoholism is rampant. We know it destroys our bodies which are the temples of the Holy Spirit of God and we are forbidden to harm our bodies. We know it destroys families and lives. We know it leads to all manner of sinful behaviors. We also know that no one knows they will become an alcoholic before it happens. We all know that if we never take that first drink, it is impossible to become an alcoholic.

Do you think it is pleasing to God when we claim our right to drink alcohol and do so, even in public in front of those who are not yet saved, but know we are Christians? Is this glorifying God? Is this loving our neighbor as ourself? Is it living out a life of crucifying our fleshly desires in His service since we have been bought with the price of His very life and are no longer our own, but His servants?

Today I have this marvelous pinwheel for you to help with the winter blues and remember spring is just around the corner! Enjoy!

Conversation Heart Magnets

I saw this idea on another blog, but I don't know which now, sorry. I LOVE this idea and finally got my marbles yesterday. I'm planning to make lots and sprinkle them on the tables at our church Valentine's Day fellowship meal Sunday. The woman who thought this up hand wrote her messages and they looked fabulous! I tried...not so fabulous. The only pretty paper I had was tissue, and I had a rainbow of perfect colors. You know even the finest Sharpie marker would wick horribly on it. :( So I tried the only scrapping paper I had...really boring for this project and I didn't like my handwriting. So, to PhotoShop I went!
To minimize how much ink I used on my printer, I set up a grid and built my "paper" and added text in Pea Summer Funkiness. There are 16 different messages in 8 different colors. I took the colors from the yummy pedestal I made to put my food on (get directions from yesterday's post). And as always, when I have done the work, I share with you! So today's freebie is the file so you can print the backgrounds and make your own lickety split!

Note - I found the marbles in a large size and the regular size. I got the regular. So if you are going to use my gift today, you need the regular size marbles or you'll have to enlarge my file to fit your larger marbles.

Another note - when they are dry you can hot glue magnets to the backs to make them into magnets. I'm making some magnets and some just to scatter on the table.

The original directions said to trace the marble, cut, etc. I started that way and quickly saw that the quickest and easiest way was to just print the sheet, lay it on the table, paint some Glossy ModPodge on each saying in a row, then go back and smoosh a marble onto it, center it and go on to the next. When almost dry I roughly cut them into squares then carefully trimmed as close to the marble as I could with my scissors. I like doing it before it's all the way dry because any tiny imperfections in the cutting easily disappear as you press the edge with your fingers. Perfect! And so quick and easy!
If you want different colors you can just magic wand select a square and fill the layer above it with your new color and set it's blending mode to multiply or screen as suits you. Flatten your project and print. You could even use the file I'm giving you and desaturate and lighten it with a hue & sat adjustment layer for more of a pastel look.

Then it got way cooler as I used the file I'm giving you today as a clipping mask and made some with pictures of loved ones... :) Ohhh what great magnets these make, and I'm wondering why not glue a jewelry "beaver" to the back to make one into a pendant and wear it as a necklace!!!! I utterly adore the sets of marbles now...I'm mixing a complete set of the 16 conversation hearts messages with a collection of photos of loved ones appropriate for each person I'm giving them to this Valentine's Day. Very happy now!

Fun Pedistal

I saw this great idea of taking the adorable melmane plates from Target and gluing them to inverted glasses, crystal candlesticks and such to make pedestals for serving food or raised candy dishes at Crafting Chicks. I LOVE the idea and today I got to visit my local Target. I love how the plate looks on top of the matching bowl. It's actually so much cuter than this picture makes it look.
But I got to thinking of how much space it would take to store...space I don't have. Just sitting the plate on there wasn't good enough as it would move when people removed food from it. I decided to join them with Plasti-tac, you know, one of those things that look sort of like chewed chewing gum that you stretch and stretch till it gets sticky. (Available at WalMart, office supply stores and everywhere else on earth :) It leaves no reside and I've used it forever as a non-destructive way to put things on my walls. I put it around the rim of the bowl, then centered it on the plate and pushed down, twisting a little to seal it good. I turned it upside down so you can see the Plasti-tac:
Now it's secure enough to move even by holding just the plate, but as soon as I'm done using it I can easily separate them, save the Plasti-tac, wash the dishes and store normally! Voila!!! This way you could mix and match tops and bottoms to suit each situation...that's SO EXCITING!!! And it only cost me $4.08 including tax! (The plate was $1.99 and the bowl $1.79.) The adorable matching plastic heart boxes were 8 for $1 at Target too. I filled them with conversation hearts they had on sale for $2 and decorated them with glitter foam hearts I already had. So the goodies only cost $4.23!

Hmmmm, now what shall I make to go on it for this Valentine's fellowship dinner at church? Mmmmm :)
The trays are on trial, but I'm pretty excited about the possibility. My husband and I, like so many, now eat dinner on the sofa in front of the TV since the children have grown and gone. I still keep the table fully dressed as it makes me happy to see it and makes the room soooo beautiful, but we only use it when we have company. I didn't plan it this way, it just happened.

It takes me LOTS of trips from the kitchen to get everything out there to eat and some is in our laps, some on the coffee table, some on empty popcorn cans I painted to match the sofa and we use as end tables (perfect for the glasses). This last year it's gotten very painful to do this, sooooo the brainstorm was the idea that these trays are large enough to put all his stuff on one and carry it to him and then only one more trip for mine!!!! They balance well on your lap with all your stuff all together instead of strewn about and when we are done, I can stack everything on top of one and bring EVERYTHING back to the kitchen IN ONE TRIP!!!! (The trays stack together nicely.) Oh I'm hoping this works.
And I had one other idea...I'm not going to always want the pink design. They sold solid colored trays just like this, but they were $3 more a piece! I decided to kill two birds with one stone and got a small roll of that wonderful white plastic shelf liner and cut to fit inside the trays. It makes it non-slip which should significantly help the carrying part and it will easily lift out for cleaning. :) A very satisfying day!
Happy Valentines Day! Now to what matters - Our minds turn to thoughts of love and romance and maybe that "special" gift from our certain someone. Our dreams are so glorious! Most of us spend most of our Valentine's Days really let down because life just doesn't always work out the way we wish it would. As long as our dreams of love and romance depend on another person's participation, we can pretty well figure we are going to be let down most of the time, because - we are all just human.

Have you ever considered that you might be looking for love and romance in the wrong place? How about if there were a completely risk free way to have our dreams of loving another and being loved in return come true - forever?! No need to fear rejection or that we will be let down or taken advantage of.

There is one who declared His love for you before He even created the world you are living in. He actually fashioned this entire world just to give to you, that you might have all you need. He didn't buy you a bouquet of flowers that soon die, He filled the world with countless varieties of them in a never ending supply for you! He didn't write you a sonnet that lasts for a few minutes, He filled nature with the music of birds songs and flowing waters - for you! He didn't buy you a dinner and a box of candy, but filled the world with good things to eat - for you! He didn't paint a painting for you, He has painted the skies every morning and every night since your birth, to give you pleasure! He didn't give you a puppy with a bow on it's neck, He created countless creatures to be your companions and bring you love and joy!

It's a done deal. He cannot disappoint you or let you down, because it's all completed already. He filled this created world with nothing but magnificent declarations of His undying love for YOU! He wants nothing more than an intimate love relationship with you, right here in this life and even more in the next!

He is holy and those who are to be with Him must be holy too. He knew mankind would sin and fall from grace, spiritually separating us from our loving Creator who had done all this, made all this, only so He could love us and we would love Him in return. He knew we would need a way back to Him. He designed a way for us to be restored to grace so we could again be His children and fellowship with Him eternally.

He designed this plan in such a way to fully demonstrate His love for us for all time. He would give us laws to teach us good from evil so we would have the chance to choose between them. He taught us about Himself through the prophets and patriarchs of old, and later by His apostles, so that we would understand that He is holy and righteous and pure. This served to teach us how evil sin is and how we are to strive to be holy and righteous like our Heavenly Father to fellowship with Him and have happy lives.

To demonstrate to us how evil sin is, He gave the law that without the shedding of blood, the source of life, there is no forgiveness of sin. He had them sacrifice animals to repent of their sins and have them rolled ahead for one more year, but not forgiven, because the blood of animals isn't holy.

Then at the right time, He gave His only begotten Son to be born of a virgin. Jesus willingly left heaven and the Creator took on the form of the created. Fully God and fully man. He lived among us to teach us and show us God and the way back to Him, and lovingly tell us the penalty awaiting us if we don't. He was in all ways tempted as we are so that He could be the perfect High Priest for us, compassionate because He too has experienced it all like us. He lived His life without sin, and willingly gave His own life on the cross to be the perfect blood sacrifice for mankind's sins, once forever.

I've heard people speak of what a horrible god our God must be to require the brutal and bloody death of His own son. Ahhh...but look at it correctly, it is as you have read here, all a plan from before there was time to show us how evil and harmful sin is and HOW MUCH HE LOVES US! Jesus' sacrifice on the cross is the greatest demonstration of love for us that is possible. The greatest gift of love there ever could be. A wooing that began before creation and continues today as He knocks at the door of your heart, an Ardent Lover pleading for you to accept His free gift of love - salvation - and ask Him to come in to your life and your heart and fellowship with Him!

Isn't that just fantastic? This is love that cannot fail you! This is TRUE love! Love that does not change when you grow old, when you fail, when you are sick or injured - love sealed with His own blood for eternity! But you say, I'm lonely here and now. I need a mate to hold and love, one that I can see and feel. I don't mean to propose that you not meet and marry here, that is God's plan for most of us and it is good. I'm just saying that in your often painful search for love, realize that you can have all that here and now with the only one who will fully and permanently love you and never reject you as long as you don't leave Him. When you have taken Jesus as your Savior and are also filled with the Holy Spirit, seeking Him with all your heart, you will find that there can be such intimacy with Him, even the ability to physically sense Him, that He can very truly be with you here, in this life as well as eternally. He is the true Lover of your soul. Happy Valentines Day!

Today's freebie is a valentine in the truest sense of the term that I gave here last year. It's all about God showing His immeasurable love for us through the gift of Jesus on the cross, His blood that bought the new covenant of grace for us in God's Word. The hearts mingling with His blood remind us that it was only love holding Him on that cross. The mourning dove in my back yard represents the precious Holy Spirit He has given to us as our Comforter and Teacher. You get a 12x12 overlay and I thought you might also like the finished jpg with a dove in it. Today's freebie is part two of a two page layout.

If you download, leave me some love at the bottom of the post and God bless your use of it!

Candy Cane Heart Suckers

I know lots of people have made these, but I just made them for my Bible class and thought I'd share for the one person who hasn't seen it yet!
I used miniature candy canes. I've seen people use higher temperatures, but I wanted to retain more control over the results, so I used 250 degrees. You can bake them on parchment paper, but having none, I sprayed with Pam and it worked fine. At 3 minutes I started checking every 1 minute and using a dinner knife to gently adjust the shapes. For some weird reason, the tips started to pull apart as they softened, so nudging them with the knife was good. When I was happy with how they looked and they were sufficiently softened that they would be joined when they cooled, I pressed sucker sticks into them and let them cool a little on the cookie sheet. Then I gently loosened them with a spatula and removed them for cooling. Hope you enjoyed it!I wrapped each in regular plastic wrap.
They disappeared immediately at the fellowship dinner! Now I've seen someone else's idea where they filled the centers with melted white chocolate and sprinkled valentine sprinkles on them. That's sooooo much cuter. Wish I'd thought of that. Oh well, next time!
