Resurrection Day Cake and Peeps Nests!

I hope you all had a blessed Holy Week and Resurrection Day today.  We were blessed to have a fantastic lesson Friday night walking us through the Jewish Passover and seeing the countless ways that it confirms Jesus Christ our Messiah, our Passover Lamb.  We use all authentic attire and elements for this lesson and it's awesome every time!

God said that the Passover was to be celebrated forever.  When Jesus fulfilled the Old Covenant on the cross and bought the New Covenant with His blood, we may think the Passover ended along with all the rest of the old Law.  This lesson shows how, at Jesus' last Passover, He fulfilled the Jewish Passover and changed it into the Christian Communion/Lord's Supper, which we indeed do forever as God said.

It's very powerful when you have the information.  You never take the Lord's Supper the same again, now seeing Jesus not only as our Lord and Savior, but the perfect Passover Lamb who's saving blood covers us and saves us from death, like the Jewish Passover lamb's blood on the doorways saved them from death.  It's an amazing and rich study.  When you are done, there can be no question that Jesus Christ Himself is indeed the long awaited Messiah, and that He is also our perfect Passover Lamb, ending the need for a new lamb to be offered each year.

It really set us up to be so excited about Resurrection Day today!  Even after 37 years of being saved, it just keeps getting more and more exciting!  And that's what we did!  We celebrated at worship today!  We shared a joyous meal, looked into the Word of God, sang praises, loved each other and eventually went home, blessed!  Thank you Jesus SO MUCH for being our Passover Lamb, for loving us and giving Your life for us!  Thank you for conquering death for us and providing us a way to heaven through repentance and YOU alone!

Now on to the adorable fattening goodies!!!

We are all so busy these days.  Those of us who blog, Instagram, Pinterest etc. have even less time.  That said, though there are many blogs I appreciate, I only follow every post of one very special blog...Home Is Where The Boat Is.

It is breathtakingly beautiful to the point that it's uplifting just looking at the gorgeous photos.  Her blog is FULL of fantastic recipes, many of which have become staples in my home.  She also has the cutest, most cleaver ideas for holiday treats.  But what I'm in awe of is her unsurpassed gift from God to make things beautiful, and a gift of photography to showcase it all.

That said, this last week I have made two of her special ideas to help celebrate Resurrection Day.

First, I took her Mini Easter Basket Cake idea and changed it just a bit to fit my budget.  Instead of buying the expensive pan to make the cake "nests", I bought shortcake shells.  To save the cost of the utterly precious foil wrapped treats and then buying candies on top of it, I used Peeps and some sprinkles I already had.  I wrapped them individually with tags wishing a "Happy Resurrection Day" for giving.

I did learn that I didn't need to use so much food coloring when tinting my coconut, but they were pretty anyway, just different than I was going for.  Next time I'll know to use less to get the pretty soft colors she got.

Those were great and people loved them, but this is what I have been SO EXCITED to make ever since I saw it on her blog...  Dash over and see her fairy cake here.  She has a plainer version here, Berry Quick and Easy Layered Cake.

Of course for me, it had to be the ultra over the top magical fairy cake!  It was perfect for our Resurrection Day Celebration lunch today at church.  It has such a luscious, organic feel about it.  The angel food cake feels like earth, the flowers and berries - new life with such abundance and goodness!  It makes me giddy just thinking about it!

Mine didn't turn out as beautiful as hers, but it was still gorgeous and DELICIOUS, praise God!  The frosting is a lemon curd/cream cheese mix and is great on it.  I didn't have the cute little chocolate mushrooms she had, but they weren't missed with the wild violets, azaleas, strawberry blossoms and runners.  She uses pansys and violas in her cooking a lot, so I checked with her and the violets in my yard were ok since we've never used chemicals.  No one actually ate them anyway.  Love how it looked with my dishes...for all of 5 minutes before we took it to worship!

I love that she does the same thing I do here...after her features, she tells you where she got everything so we can duplicate her design.  So here goes:
